How do I choose an inverter? By the power of your devices and where you will use it.

Power inverters for cars

A car inverter converts the 12V (or 24V) DC from your battery into 220V AC, so you can charge a laptop, run a camera or use small electronics on the road, while camping or during a power cut. All inverters here are modified sine wave models, which suit chargers and most small electronics.

Quick guide: passenger car or SUV → 12V. Truck or bus → 24V (only the 200W model supports 24V). Laptop and USB charging → 150–300W. For larger devices check the label for their power draw and compare it with the inverter’s rated (continuous) power — the peak figure is only for short start-up surges.

Frequently asked questions about car inverters

What is the difference between a 12V and a 24V inverter?
12V is used in passenger cars and SUVs. 24V is used in trucks and buses. ⚠️ Never connect a 12V-only inverter to a 24V system.
How do I choose the power?
Find the power of your device in watts (W) and add a 20–30% margin. For example, a 65W laptop → at least a 150W inverter. Many power tools draw 500W or more, so check their label and the inverter’s rated (continuous) power.
Pure sine wave or modified sine wave?
Modified sine wave works with most devices (laptops, phones, LED lighting). Pure sine wave is needed for sensitive equipment, such as medical devices and some inductive loads. The inverters here are modified sine wave.
Can an inverter damage my car?
Not if the voltage is correct and the load stays within the rating. Higher-power inverters should be connected directly to the battery rather than to the cigarette lighter socket.
How long will it run?
It depends on the battery and the load. A large load can drain a typical car battery in well under an hour. For long use, keep the engine running.
Where can I use an inverter?
On long drives (charging a laptop), for phones and tablets, camping, work tools, in trucks (24V model) and as a backup 220V source during a power cut.
