❓ Frequently asked questions
Does it work with 3.5" drives?
No. 3.5" drives need 12V power, and this adapter only takes 5V from USB. It is sufficient for 2.5" drives.
Does it work with M.2 SSDs?
No. This is a SATA 22-pin adapter. An M.2 SSD needs a dedicated M.2 to USB adapter.
How fast is it?
Over USB 3.0, 625 MB/s in theory and 400-450 MB/s in practice on an SSD. An HDD is limited by the drive's own speed (~100-150 MB/s).
Do I need a driver?
No. Plug & Play — connect it and it works on Windows, Mac and Linux.
